Vacation 2008

Family
So, this year we decided to forego the usual family
trip to Mammoth with my parents and decided to start
our own tradition. Since gas prices are so high, most
of our vacation was more of a “stay”-cation (I hear
that’s the new hip term for staying at home on your
vacation). It was nice to relax, spend some time
together and ignore the ever present flow of email.
We did, however, get out of the house for a couple days
to go to San Diego to visit the Zoo and Sea World. We
had a great time on our adventure together. Kenzie and
Avery both love animals so this was a great couple of
days for them.
We decided to visit the Zoo on the first day to get it
out of the way. The San Diego Zoo has some fascinating
creatures to view... and it has a lot of hills... and
it can be hot... It’s a good time, but exhausting.
We saved Sea World for the second day because Tina and
I find it relaxing. Even if it’s crowded, we don’t feel
rushed. It’s generally cooler and, being right by the
bay, very mellow. That was a blast. We’re now at the
point where we skip the shows and just go to the
various aquariums, look at the animals and slowly
wander around avoiding the crowds as much as possible.
I’ve created two photo albums for the two days.

I sure hope we can do something like this again next
year.
