Ramblings from Tom...

Man! I need to get more disciplined with posting on this blog. Honestly, it escapes my attention, but what’s the point of a blog if you don’t post? It feels like a lot’s happened since our last post.

Christmas was good. I’m still not sure why we buy presents for our girls. Right after Christmas they were beating each other with the leftover tubes from wrapping paper. Last night I brought home an old keyboard we had laying around the office. Avery’s in heaven, typing away....

New Year’s Eve and Day were low key for us. We spent time with Tina’s sister and husband. Played games and watched the ball drop. Kenzie stayed up until midnight.

Now we’re just plugging away. Kenzie’s back in school. Avery’s getting bigger (she’s trying to jump - quite funny). Tina’s working hard. I’m hardly working (just kidding - I’m busier than ever).

It’s so much fun (and sad) to watch my girls grow up. They’re getting so big, so fast.

On a less significant note (unless you’re a gadget geek), the high definition discs format war is almost at an end. Warner Brothers announced that they will be going Blu-ray exclusive in May of this year. This means that Blu-ray now has 70% of the major studios releasing exclusively on their format. Only Paramount, Dreamworks and Universal remain committed to HD-DVD, and the latest rumors have these studios going Blu soon. Hopefully, this will all serve to lower player prices and deepen the catalog of available titles.

Also, my life is on hold until Macworld San Francisco next week. I’m going to be upgrading my laptop, and I’m waiting on Apple’s new product announcements before I place the order... This is exciting for me anyway...

I’ve seen a few movies lately, the new Die Hard and The Kingdom, among others. I’ll try to post my thoughts on those a little later. Due to the Hollywood writers strike, we’re watching a lot more movies and a lot less TV, and it looks like this will continue through the summer. No 24 this year... Only American Idol to watch and a few more episodes of our regular series before everything goes to repeats...

Stand to Reason begins its Masters Series in Christian Thought next Monday at Hope Chapel in Hermosa Beach. The lineup this year will be interesting. These are long days for the STR staff, but rewarding ones. If you’re in the area, you should try to make a lecture or two. At the very least, the lectures will give you something to think about.

So, with the new year, I’ll hopefully be more regular in my postings here. I know I’ve said this before. Hopefully I’ll follow through...
